Search
The search field at the top of the sidebar finds anything you can see: cases, incidents, accounts, contacts, dev tasks, and people (if you manage users).
[!TIP] Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere to jump to the search field.
As you type
After two characters, suggestions appear, grouped by type, the first five of each, with All and the number when there are more. A case or incident number (PB-1024, INC-4, WEB-12) finds that one.
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys and Enter, or a click | Open a suggestion. |
| Escape | Close the suggestions. |
| Enter without picking one | Open Lookup (below). |
Suggestions match:
| Type | Matched on |
|---|---|
| Cases | Subject, case number and requester |
| Contacts | Name and email address |
| Accounts | Name and domain (@gizmo.example) |
| Incidents | Title |
| Dev tasks | Title |
The Lookup page
Enter without picking a suggestion, or the magnifying glass, opens Lookup: every type with its first results and how many there are, and Show all for one type a page at a time.
Lookup also searches the text of messages (replies, notes and what requesters wrote), so it finds a case by something said in its conversation.
[!NOTE] Search only ever shows what you have access to: the cases of your units (and restricted cases only where you work), the incidents and dev projects you can see.
